BOARD MEMBER for PROGRESS RANCH

 

I. QUALIFICATIONS

  1. At least 18 years of age;
  2. Submission of resume and references;
  3. Submission and clearance of fingerprints for Community Care Licensing;
  4. Read, understand and sign CCL’s statement regarding board responsibilities;
  5. Commit 8-10 hours per month to the agency;
  6. Commit 1-5 years to the agency;
  7. Take an active interest in the agency by 
    1. Knowing the philosophy and purpose of the agency;
    2. Obtaining sufficient knowledge of the agency, its industry and organization;
    3. Contribute ideas and constructive criticism; and
    4. Assisting in fund raising efforts on a regular basis.

 

II. DUTIES

  1. Board members oversee the management of the corporation. The board is responsible for financial decisions, hiring and evaluating the Administrator and providing guidance to him to carry out board decisions.
  2. Attend board meetings as per by-laws;
  3. Actively chair and participate on a project and assume the responsibility of an officer’s position or on a committee;
  4. Keep informed of the activities of the agency which would affect the status of the agency; 
  5. Speak publicly twice a year to service organizations or during the United Way campaign about our organization and its programs;
  6. Participate in all Board development workshops; and
  7. Actively seek support (financial, material, educational, labor, possible board candidates, etc) for the continuation of this organization.

 

III. FRIENDS OF THE AGENCY

Varying degrees of board commitment are welcomed in this class of participation. Friends of the agency usually participate in specific events when needed. Formal commitment as a board member is not required.

 

IV. ADVISORY MEMBER OF THE BOARD

Formal commitment as a board member is not required. Your have been asked to be on the board due to a specific profession or expertise. Your services will be requested for a particular issue or to represent a specific contingency.
